Sustaining Week's debut in Dessau-Roßlau: hopes and pledges unveiled

The city of Dessau-Roßlau, under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Eter Hachmann and Energy State Secretary Thomas Wünsch, has launched the comprehensive program for the 'Week of Sustainability 2025'. This year-long commitment to sustainability is not limited to Dessau-Roßlau, as cities such as Aschersleben, Halle, Werben (Elbe), and Bad Kösen are also participating.

Running from now until October 8, the 'Week of Sustainability 2025' in Dessau-Roßlau marks the city's second time organizing this event, acting as a model municipality for 'Education for Sustainable Development' (ESD). The city's ongoing commitment to sustainability is evident in activities throughout the year, including sustainability education in schools and kindergartens, environmentally friendly mobility initiatives, and the 'CityLab' for promoting sustainable urban development.

Thomas Wünsch emphasised Dessau-Roßlau's dedication to sustainability, highlighting these activities as well as the numerous events planned during the 'Week of Sustainability 2025'. These include information events on balcony power plants, climate-friendly heating, guided tours of waterworks and wastewater treatment plants, workshops, and handicraft courses.

The 'Week of Sustainability 2025' is not confined to Dessau-Roßlau, however. The Halle-Saalekreis-Burgenlandkreis region, Altmark region, Anhalt-Bitterfeld-Wittenberg region, and Harz region are also hosting events as part of this initiative. In total, more than 100 events throughout Saxony-Anhalt are part of the German Action Days for Sustainability from mid-September to October 8.

The Ministry of the Environment is providing support for the organization of these events in all regions of Saxony-Anhalt with a total of 125,000 euros. Applications for the 'Saxony-Anhalt Sustainability Education' program can be submitted to the Investment Bank of Saxony-Anhalt until September 30, 2025, with a volume of 1.4 million euros for the 2026 program.

For those interested in learning more about sustainability, information can be found on the website of the Ministry of the Environment at https://mwu.sachsen-anhalt.de/umwelt/nachhaltigkeit. Overviews of the interactive activities in the regions can be found online, with the calendar for Aschersleben's events during the 'Week of Sustainability 2025' available.

Join the movement towards a more sustainable future in Saxony-Anhalt by participating in the numerous events planned for the 'Week of Sustainability 2025' and the German Action Days for Sustainability. Together, we can make a difference!
