In the heart of Germany, the municipality of Nordhorn is making significant strides in promoting gender-equitable construction projects and cycling initiatives. The latest updates on these topics were shared by the municipal equality officer, Anja Milewski, during a recent event titled "A Glass."

Held at the "Zwischenzeit" in the community house of the Kreuzkirche on Van-Delden-Straße, the event attracted more than 20 women from politics and the local community. Four current councilwomen, an honorary councilwoman, representatives of the SPD, CDU, and Green parties, and other politically interested women from Nordhorn were in attendance.

Milewski opened the event by introducing the topic of gender-fair building. She shared insights into current building and living projects in Nordhorn that consider aspects of gender-fair urban planning, as presented by Milena Schauer, Nordhorn's city building director. Schauer's numerous examples provided a comprehensive picture of the city's activities in this area.

The women's cycling tour will take place on September 9th at 5 pm as part of the city cycling. Milewski also announced that the cycling learning course for women will start again during the autumn holidays. In addition, an exclusive event "Experiencing Safety" for women in cooperation with the police will occur on September 15th.

Milewski concluded the event by expressing her satisfaction, stating that they have gained a great overview of how a city can stand up for everyone and improve the quality of life for everyone. She encouraged interested women to contact her at anja.milewski@our website to receive invitations to future events.

The city of Nordhorn is committed to keeping its residents informed about all offers related to gender planning and cycling initiatives. Visit the city's website for more details. The next "A Glass" event is planned for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 7 pm, hosted by the municipal gallery.
