The action invites citizens, students, employees, and officials to pedal their way through as many daily routes as possible during 21 action-packed days.
For the first time ever, the state-wide kick-off occurred in 2022 in Stadtilm. The three-week period is designed to nudge the habits of commuters towards sustainable transportation options, making it possible to journey to work or school by bike. The Thuringian Ministry has been supporting the action since 2016, covering the participation fees for municipalities.
Keen students can turn the pedals for a chance to win a whopping 10,000 euros in prize money by covering the most kilometers on their bikes. In 2024, 131 Thuringian schools from 24 cities and municipalities participated in the completion.
