"Topor Festival in Tomsk will feature 'The Cheaters' as its main act"
The rural park "Okolitsa" in Tomsk, Russia, will once again host the annual international folk crafts festival, known as the "Axe Festival", from August 16 to 24. This vibrant event promises a week-long celebration of traditional crafts, music, and culture.
The festival kicks off on August 17 with an evening concert by the renowned Russian singer, Marina Devyatova, marking the official opening. The technical opening, filled with various shows, master classes, and more, will take place the following day, from 09:00 to 10:30, on the central stage.
Masters from 46 regions of Russia and nine countries have applied to participate in the festival, showcasing the global reach of this cultural event. Vitaly Seriakov, director of the Palace of Folk Art "Avant-garde", has announced that the festival will feature a platform for municipal formations, highlighting unique collectives from the regions of Tomsk Oblast.
The festival will conclude on August 24, with the official closing ceremony and awarding of masters taking place from 18:00 to 21:00. The evening will continue with a performance by popular Russian performers, "Cheeky Fellows", from 20:00 to 21:00.
In addition to the main events, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the festival. On August 22, events include the traditional gastronomic festival "On the Axe", the "Wooden Craftsmanship", "Clay Fairytale", "Every Anvil Has Its Own Voice", and "Birch Bark Circle" platforms, as well as the banya platform and "National Courtyard". The annual "Skomorokh's Fairytale Tent" festival will join the platforms on August 23, losing its international status but remaining regional.
Work is underway to address the issue of mobile internet access in "Okolitsa", ensuring a smooth experience for all festival-goers. Comfortable eco-toilets have been prepared for guests, and the park area has been treated for ticks.
