The Ned Joins Safe Haven Network in the City of London

The iconic landmark hotel and members' club, The Ned, has joined the Safe Haven network in the heart of the City of London. Located near Bank Junction in the former Midland Bank headquarters, The Ned is now a part of the Safe Haven initiative, which aims to make the city a safer, more welcoming place for everyone.

Paul Gorry, Head of Security at The Ned, expressed his commitment to the safety of guests and staff. He considers the safety of people as a top priority, both professionally and personally, due in part to important women in his life. Gorry was inspired to join the Safe Haven initiative after attending an Expo and witnessing the work of Don Randall MBE, Chief Inspector Caroline Hay MBE, Ayesha Fordham, and Sarah Walker.

The Safe Haven app, available on Google Play for Android devices and the App Store for Apple devices, lists registered premises, making it easy for anyone in need of support to find. Participating in the Safe Haven scheme is a simple process for businesses, and The Ned has completed a short training session to become a Safe Haven, equipping their staff to offer reassurance and basic assistance.

Don Randall MBE, Chairman of the City of London Crime Prevention Association and the Our Safer City initiative, welcomed The Ned's participation. He encouraged other premises in the City of London to follow suit, as registration for the Safe Haven app and the Our Safer City initiative is free and can be done by visiting oursafercity.co.uk or emailing [email protected].

Safe Havens can be found in various premises such as cafes, shops, offices, and community venues. The Our Safer City initiative in the City of London was initiated and supported by the City of London Corporation. The Ned, with its ten restaurants and bars, 250 hotel bedrooms, and a private members' club, is a significant addition to the Safe Haven network in the city.

Paul Gorry believes that The Ned should take part in the Safe Haven scheme due to increased concerns about crimes against women in public spaces. By joining the Safe Haven network, The Ned is not only ensuring the safety of its guests and staff but also contributing to making the City of London a safer place for all.
