Unseen Country Estate Up for Private Sale in Idyllic Village, Boasting an Impressive, Natural Swimming Haven

Grade II-Listed Neo-Georgian Property "Whites" in Goudhurst, Kent, Goes on Sale for £5.5m

Nestled on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Goudhurst, Kent, England, a historic and architecturally significant neo-Georgian property known as "Whites" is now up for sale. The exquisite property, built between 1901 and 1905, boasts a rich history and modern amenities, making it an attractive proposition for discerning buyers.

Whites, originally built for Sir Charles Jessel's unmarried sister, Lucy, spans across three floors and offers elegant accommodation. The property features a large entrance hall, two principal reception rooms, a study, a large kitchen/dining/sitting room, a master bedroom suite, seven additional bedrooms, and four further bathrooms.

In 2011/12, the current owners undertook a substantial renovation, modernizing the house while preserving its historic character. The renovation included installing a sophisticated ground-source heating system that provides both hot water and heating, integrated smart house-control and alarm systems, ceiling speakers in major rooms, and ultra-fast broadband at 900Mbps throughout the house. One of the most notable additions is a large natural swimming pond of approximately 350 sq m, one of the largest domestic swimming ponds installed by Gartenart.

The property sits on 6½ acres of gardens and grounds, offering commanding views across the valley towards Bedgebury Forest. Whites is being sold off-market, but interested buyers can contact Peter Whatmore of Edenfells Property at 07971 226917 for more information.

Goudhurst, the location of Whites, has a rich history. In the 15th century, it was a center of the Wealden iron trade, and later, it had a thriving weaving industry and was the center of a hop-growing region. The village, located 10 miles east of Royal Tunbridge Wells and five miles from Cranbrook, is steeped in history.

In 1747, a notable event took place in the church and churchyard of Goudhurst, where the Goudhurst Militia, led by 'General' William Sturt, a former soldier, clashed with the Hawkhurst smuggling gang, led by Thomas Kingsmill.

While there is no direct indication that the house is known as "Whites Stocks Farm," a nearby property with a similar name exists, suggesting that Whites and Whites Stocks Farm are distinct properties.

Whites, with its blend of early 20th-century architectural elegance and modern eco-friendly and smart features, remains a prominent family-owned home available by private sale. It is a property that offers a unique combination of history, character, and modern comfort, making it an attractive proposition for those seeking a home that reflects both the past and the present.

The serene grounds of Whites, a Grade II-Listed Neo-Georgian property, provide an idyllic setting for outdoor-living, offering ample space for home-and-garden enthusiasts to cultivate their passions. Whether one prefers tranquil strolls through meticulously maintained gardens or taking a refreshing dip in the expansive natural swimming pond, Whites promises a lifestyle that seamlessly blends history and modern conveniences.
