In the Fatima-Rosary Parish, a change is coming to passport and identity card applications. As of May 1st, digital certified passport photos will be required for these documents. This shift towards digital photos aims to enhance security and compatibility with biometric facial recognition systems.

Starting from May 1st, printed passport photos will no longer be accepted. Residents can obtain their digital photos at the town hall, certified photo studios, or drugstores that offer digital photo services. However, it's essential to note that these services are separate from the religious events held at the Pemfling Church.

On Sunday, August 17th, the service at the Pemfling Church will be led by Birgit Eberl. This service is part of the Fatima-Rosary Parish and is not related to the new passport photo requirements or the event scheduled for Wednesday, 7:00 PM.

The new digital passport photo requirements are as follows:

  1. Size: The photo must be 35 mm x 45 mm in portrait format, sharp, and in color.
  2. Background: The background must be uniform and light, either white or light gray, with no patterns, shadows, or reflections.
  3. Face position & expression: The face must be centered, fully visible, and occupy approximately 70-80% of the image. The subject's forehead, eyes open and looking straight ahead, closed mouth, and neutral expression are mandatory for compliance.
  4. Photographer: From May 1, 2025, passport photos must be taken by registered professional photographers who encrypt and transmit the image securely to the authorities via an e-passport photo system. Self-taken, photo booth, or photo app pictures are no longer accepted to prevent manipulation and identity theft.
  5. Photo transmission: The photo must be transmitted securely through authorized means, often associated with a QR code given by the photographer for direct submission to authorities.

Children under six years old should have their photos taken at photo studios or drugstores. The town hall also offers digital photo services for passport applications.

It's essential to consult the parish or local government’s identity document guidelines directly for any local or country-specific deviations from these rules. These regulations promote security and ensure photos are compatible with biometric facial recognition systems.

The service at the Pemfling Church on August 17th is scheduled for 10:30 AM and does not involve digital passport photos or the new passport photo requirements.

  1. The new digital passport photo regulations, which come into effect on May 1st, will require residents to adjust their approach when applying for passports and identity cards, as they will need to obtain digital photos from the town hall, certified photo studios, or drugstores that offer digital photo services, ensuring the photos adhere to specific size, background, face position, expression, photographer, and transmission requirements.
  2. To maintain a consistent lifestyle and stay up-to-date, home-and-garden enthusiasts may wish to consider upgrading their photography equipment to accommodate the new digital passport photo requirements, as many of these regulations emphasize superior image quality, consistency, and security to match the advancements in biometric facial recognition systems.
