Voting Closes Tomorrow for Choosing Parks to Improve with Federal Funds

Yekaterinburg surpasses all million-city counterparts in voting for federal funds allocation for park improvements.

Tomorrow, June 12th, the voting for selecting parks to beautify with federal money will come to an end. However, Yekaterinburg has already gathered over 390,000 votes. This is 100.32% of the quota set by Moscow, according to our city.ru source from the mayor's office. Yekaterinburg is the only city of over a million residents to have obtained 100% of the votes.

Commenting on the results, Mayor Alexey Orlov thanked everyone who voted for the parks in Yekaterinburg. "Although the voting is not yet completed, thanks to the keen citizens of the city, we have already collected the required number of votes. This year, Yekaterinburg not only surpassed other mega-cities but also broke its own record from the previous year. I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the enthusiastic Yekaterinburg residents who responded to the call to make our city a better place. I’d also like to extend a special word of thanks to the volunteers who have been spreading the word about the importance of voting for projects related to park improvement for the past two months," said Alexey Orlov on city.ru.

Ufa is second on the list, with 225,000 votes, which is 76.6% of the target. Novosibirsk, a city with a larger population than Yekaterinburg, only managed to secure 29% of the necessary votes. The results were poor in Rostov. With a threshold of 288,000 votes, the residents voted only 60,000 times, equating to 20%.

In Yekaterinburg, funds for the park improvements will go to the River Iset Embankment and the Ollovki park. A total of 72,700 residents voted for these projects. You can view the renderings of the winning park and other participating projects here.

Eight parks in the city are vying for federal funding for renovation. Here are images of all the projects:

There have been stricter rules for conducting the voting for federal funds for park renovation in Moscow this year. The quotas for cities have been increased, and the funding has been reduced by almost half.

Yekaterinburg has been involved in the federal project "Formulating a Comfortable Urban Environment" since 2017. Over the past five years, repairs and renovations have been done on the River Iset Embankment from Malyshyev to Kuibyshev, the Opera Square, the Green Grove, the Park of the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party, the Sun Alleys, and the Preobrazhensky Park. In 2025, work began in the park of the 50th Anniversary of the VLKSM, which won the previous vote with over 100,000 votes.
